SHIN PAIN

Shin pain generally has three main causes:

  • Medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints)
  • Stress Fracture
  • Compartment Syndrome

How does my podiatrist find out which condition I have?

Careful questioning by your podiatrist, isolation of the painful area and assessment on our video treadmill gait analysis system will generally make your diagnosis clear. If further imaging and testing is required, it will be arranged by your podiatrist.

Your podiatrists at the Glenroy Foot Clinic will then make recommendations to reduce your pain, resolve your injury and get you back to sport as quickly as possible.

Treatment options may include rest, ice, specialised orthotics to support your foot posture or take strain off inflamed or injured structures, footwear recommendations, exercises, anti-inflammatory therapy and training you on how to run and walk more efficiently to reduce the pain.
